It’s no secret, the pandemic has presented a whole lot of challenges for families. With some kids in school, some kids out of school, all while some parents are still heading into the office while others are working from home, it’s brought a whole new level of complexity to childcare, especially when it comes to keeping the kids entertained! Don’t worry if you’ve never heard about story stones, we’re happy to tell you all about them. For starters, the activity starts with something the kids may already love doing, hunting for rocks! Rock hunting is a fun activity for kid and adult alike, and it’s a great way to get outside when many places might be closed. Bundle up since the cold is coming, get outside, and find the most interesting rocks around!
And of course, the fun doesn’t have to stop once you get home! Give the rocks a quick rinse and once they’re dry, it’s time to break out the paint! With each painted rock make up a little story with the kids, perhaps make them characters in a play or paint the story of where they were found, the only limit is your imagination!
