Raya and the Last Dragon Set to Wow Audiences in November

Although only scheduled to be released in November, Raya and the Last Dragon, the upcoming offering from Disney Animation Studios, already has fans everywhere abuzz with anticipation. The epic animated adventure will center around the story of Raya, a fearless and passionate warrior, on her quest to find the last dragon. Set in an imaginary realm called Lumandra, inhabited by five clans from the land of the dragon, the film promises to transport audiences to "a reimagined earth inhabited by an ancient civilization".

Raya and the Last Dragon will star Cassie Steele as the voice of Raya, and Awkwafina as the voice of Sisu, a water dragon who can transform into a human. It’ll be the 59th animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon, and as fans have come to expect from Disney animated features, while it’ll be heavily geared towards younger audiences, older audiences are sure to find something they’ll enjoy as well.

Raya and the Last Dragon's development dates back to 2017, although it only saw the light of day once Disney decided to shelve Gigantic, a re-telling of Jack and the Beanstalk. Don’t lose hope for Gigantic, however, the story of a young hero befriending an 11-year-old giantess, set in 15th century Spain, isn’t quite down for the count. Given the consistent success of most Disney animated features, we expect to see Gigantic revived sometime in the near future.
