How to Stay Fit With The Whole Family

Have you put on a couple of pandemic pounds? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one, and it’s only a matter of time before you’ll burn it off. But what about the kids? Have they put on a bit of weight too? To help keep the whole family healthy and happy, the team here at Readgrad has some suggestions for exercises the whole family can do together.

Burpees and jumping jacks. You remember doing them as a kid, but they’re a great way to stay active as grown ups too! Plus, based on your own experiences you already know that kids love burpees and jumping jacks, so you’re all set!

Play in the backyard. Running around in a wide open space is one of the best ways for a kid to get some exercise. Games like Red Rover or Big Bad Wolf are not only fun, they get kids moving, and when the parents get involved they get every bit as much benefit. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there, why not make up your own games while you’re at it?

Swimming. Although many public pools are currently closed, many are lucky enough to live within driving distance of public beaches. For the rest of us, the pools will hopefully be open again soon, and when they do, a family swim is a great way to stay fit together!

Looking for some fun for the whole family? Visit our online library at Readgrad for a wide variety of ebooks, audiobooks, music, and more. Accessible anytime, anywhere, from your favorite devices.

How to Wake Up The Kids

We get it, nobody likes early mornings, especially not the kids, and especially not when they have to wake up early to go to school. While many schools are still teaching remotely, that’s not the case for everywhere, and everyone will eventually have to get ready to go back. With that in mind, the team at Readgrad thought we’d offer these suggestions for getting the kids to get up.

Bribe them. It may not be the strategy you’d like to start with, but trust us, it’s effective. Do your kids have a favorite breakfast? Have it ready for them if they’ll get up. Maybe a chocolate or some candy later? Why not! Food can be a great motivator but your imagination is the limit.

Wake them up earlier than needed. After all, even we hit snooze on the alarm once or twice, or seven times… Kids are no different, and when they ask for five more minutes in bed they have every right to it. So if you’re up already, wake the kids up earlier than they need to and let them go back to bed for a few more minutes, it’ll seem like an indulgence!

Make sure they’re getting enough sleep. Perhaps most importantly, if the day ahead calls for an early start time, make sure the kids get to bed early the night before. They may not like it, well rested kids will make your life so much easier in the morning!

Looking for some fun for the whole family? Visit our online library at Readgrad for a wide variety of ebooks, audiobooks, music, and more. Accessible anytime, anywhere, from your favorite devices.

Fun Meals For Family Time

It’s true, Readgrad does have an expansive collection of great ebooks, audiobooks, and more that’s sure to please the whole family! But did you know that Readgrad also has cookbooks? In fact, we thought we’d dig through our collection to find some fun meals you can prepare that the whole family will love, especially the kids!

Grilled cheese roll ups. Who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese! But while the classic is always a sure bet, this fun alternative is also sure to please! Simply sub some flatbread for the usual sandwich bread and let the kids roll them up to make their delicious dinner treats. Grill the roll ups the same way you would your grilled cheese sandwiches and family dinner is bound to be a blast.

Meatloaf cupcakes. Wouldn’t the kids love having dessert for dinner? Well, that may not be the most nutritious choice, but that doesn’t mean dinner can’t at least look like dessert! Next meatloaf night, turn that boring old meatloaf into something fun by making meatloaf cupcakes. Simply bake your meatloaf in muffin tins, then the kids can take over and start decorating from there with mashed potato “frosting” and pea “sprinkles”.

And of course, don’t forget that while you’re making dinner with the kids you can have an audiobook or some music playing to make the night extra fun!

Looking for something that’ll entertain the whole family? Visit our online library at Readgrad for a wide variety of ebooks, audiobooks, music, and more. Accessible anytime, anywhere, from your favorite devices.
